Our first Model Spotlight to celebrate Black History Month is with rising star, Gina WAP. She has been steadily climbing the popularity ranks and has accumulated over 88 million video views. Gina tells us about her origins getting into porn, the importance of marketing to grow your brand, some helpful tips for BIPOC newcomers joining the industry, and more.
Tell us a little about yourself. How did you get started in the adult industry?
I got started pretty much by accident through social media. Every time I posted, someone would send me some sort of money emoji, and at first, I honestly had no clue what that even meant. I thought they just wanted to give me money for being cute! But then one day, someone sent me a large sum of money for a sex tape. My boyfriend and I made one, sent it over, and that was when we realized sex could be a job. Social media apps played a huge role in making that discovery, and once we realized that there was no turning back!
How do you leverage social media to direct fans to your Model page?
Marketing is key to growth, but I’ve also noticed that if your work and talent really speak for themselves, it can make a huge impact—just look at being in the top 25 performers out of all the Models on the site, for example. The platform itself does a lot of the heavy lifting! But I’ve also realized that adding to your brand through social media is a huge game-changer. It’s all about engaging with your audience in new ways and giving them a peek behind the scenes. When you combine that with the power of the platform, it’s like the perfect recipe for growth!
In a world of talent, how do you stand out?
In this amazing world of adult film, there’s no shortage of talent, but I try to stand out by bringing something a little old-school and creative to the table—roleplay videos! I noticed that while backshot vids and head scenes are everywhere, people rarely get to see the build-up, the acting, the story before the fun really kicks off. So, I decided to put a little more thought into my content, making it more engaging and complex. It’s all about creating that anticipation and giving my audience a deeper, more immersive experience. People love to be surprised, and I want to give them something fresh!
A good story does help build anticipation! Have you seen a correlation between video views on our platform and a growth of subscribers to your fan sites and socials since uploading videos on Pornhub?
Since I started uploading on Pornhub, I've definitely noticed a significant boost in my fanbase. What’s even better is that the fans who come from Pornhub are not only loyal but also active on my socials. They engage, interact, and really connect with my content, which creates a much more dedicated and supportive community. It’s amazing to see how much they show up both on the platform and across my social channels!
As someone who is doing very well on Pornhub, what are some tips you’d like to share to help those who are just starting out?
1. Look at the greats who came before you: This industry has been around for a long time, and there are so many legendary performers who paved the way. Just like ballplayers study the footage of the greats before them, take a moment to watch and learn from the legends of adult film. Look at what worked for them—what made them stand out? The angles they used, the video quality, the concepts of their scenes. See how they built their brands and became icons.
2. Offer more than what’s expected: Don’t just settle for the typical content like backshots and head videos. Those are great, but think about what else you can bring to the table! How can you give your audience a refreshment—a new angle or concept that keeps them coming back for more? Just like famous singers or actors always look their best for their work (music videos, TV shows, etc.), we should do the same with our content. Make it stand out in both quality and creativity.
3. Treat this like a job, not a hobby: A lot of people tend to treat it like an activity or a hobby, but the reality is, this is a career. Take it seriously, invest in yourself, and don’t be afraid to put in the work. Whether it’s looking your best for shoots, or constantly improving your skills, approach it with professionalism and dedication.
Thank you for sharing. Going a little deeper into it, what are your thoughts on creating safer spaces specifically for BIPOC Performers?
We can create spaces that are not just safer but also more inclusive and empowering for everyone by listening and empathizing. When people in the industry—producers, fellow performers, even fans—take the time to understand what others go through, it opens the door for real change. This means creating equal opportunities, confronting any biases head-on, and making sure that everyone, no matter their background, feels safe, respected, and valued. It's about building a community where everyone can thrive and bring their authentic selves to the table!
What has been the highlight of your career so far?
The highlight of my career has definitely been making it into the Top 100 Most Popular Amateur Models on Pornhub. It's such an honor, but I'm not stopping there—I’m aiming for that top 10 spot, so watch out! I'm just getting started!
Congratulations! When you’re not shooting porn, what do you like to do for fun?
My boyfriend and I love going on little adventures—whether that’s fun dates or traveling to new countries. I’m all about learning new things, too. Right now, we’re both trying to pick up the guitar, and it’s been such a fun challenge! I also really enjoy juicing fresh fruits and veggies and making my own herbal teas. It’s honestly one of my favorite ways to relax and feel good.
Final question for you. Tell us about your career goals! What would you like to accomplish in the next year or two?
In the next two years, my goal is to become a well-renowned adult film actress—aiming for that top 10 spot on Pornhub, of course! But I also want to break into other media, like becoming one of the few women to have a huge following on both YouTube and Pornhub. I’ve always loved being on camera, and I can honestly see myself doing this for a long time. I’m just excited to keep growing and see where it all goes!
