Black History Month is a time to celebrate our diverse community and recognize the achievements of pioneers who fought for equality. Without the bravery of adult industry icons such as Desiree West, Gene Lamar and countless others, porn may not be what it is today.
But it goes much deeper than porn. Black entertainers have been at the foundation of our lives for over a century. Without the influence of Robert Johnson and early blues pioneers, we wouldn’t have soul, R&B, rock or pop music as we do today. Without authors like James Baldwin or Toni Morrison, we wouldn’t have the historical significance of Black culture in modern society. And don’t get us started on RuPaul and the trailblazing Black drag icons that paved the way for generations of LGBTQIA+ folks to feel comfortable with their sexuality. We could go on for days about black fashion and over 50 years of hip hop that have dominated the billboards. Black culture has heavily and positively shaped modern society. It is so deeply ingrained in our lives that we cannot go through the day without interacting with it in some capacity.
Despite all this, systemic racism, social injustice and deeply rooted belief systems continue to create obstacles for the BIPOC community. In an already complicated industry, Black creators may experience additional challenges. And we want to help change that.
Three of our core values highlight the importance of honoring Black History Month: diversity, authenticity and originality—the commitment to uplift and celebrate Black creators, dismantle racism, and break down historically impenetrable barriers. Keep reading to discover what we have in store.
LIPS Florida Donation
First, we are donating to LIPS Florida, an organization run by Black Trans Women for Black and POC Trans folks. It was created to promote health and wellness through support groups, case management, resource sharing, and educational workshops.
During a particularly trying time for both Black and Trans folks, we felt LIPS Florida was an organization that could help provide resources for a marginalized group that faces twice as much discrimination.

Model Spotlights
Black creators have contributed to Pornhub’s success as a cultural phenomenon. We will be publishing multiple spotlights this month.
We caught up with the performers to learn about their unique experiences and successes in the industry, to give you a first-hand look into their achievements, hobbies and aspirations. Check the Blog regularly throughout February to read these profiles.
Homepage Ads
These ads will appear on the sides and top of the homepage, and viewers will be able to click on them to be directed to a variety of videos showcasing Black excellence. They are among our biggest ads and take over the homepage to give visibility to millions of viewers around the world. They have a much larger impact than traditional banner ads. Based on their performance last year, we are bringing them back again to help Black Models get discovered.

If you are not directly affected by systemic racism or social injustice, it can be easy to forget about it. We encourage people, no matter the color of their skin, to consider the ways Black culture has inspired our lives, to honor and celebrate the achievements of Black creators, and to dismantle racism. Uplifting Black creators is not just important in February—it is an initiative we care about year-round.
