This year, we’re joined by Riley Reid, who recently joined the Certified MILFs Club when she gave birth to her baby girl last year. We delve into her unique experiences and how she balances her career in the adult industry with the joys and challenges of motherhood. A new baby, a new clothing line; tell us about how the last year in the life of Riley Reid has gone?
My life has had a huge shift! I decided to keep my pregnancy a secret because the reality is that there can be tragic incidents and I was worried since I’ve had a miscarriage previously. My husband and I went to a basketball game, sat courtside, and I had a giant NBA player fall on me that aired on national television. It was the first-time people were able to confirm my pregnancy since I was obviously very pregnant, about 7 months at the time. You can find the video online; it was pretty funny for people to find out that way.
In June, we welcomed our baby girl. I’ve had this huge shift in my identity since; I have this passion and drive to prove that I can reach for the stars and build a life for myself I never thought possible. I have started branching out to more mainstream outlets, for example my clothing brand. My goal is for Eighteen Plus Clothing to become another household name. I am so passionate about creating a luxury streetwear brand that is high quality. I want to show that pornstars can create a brand that is more than just some merch with a hot girl’s photo on it. Not that those shirts aren't cool, but I took a huge risk and I'm hoping that it will be worth it in the end. My husband and I worked to create this brand together, and a lot of the clothes are inspired by him being an athlete.
Outside of that I have been working with television agencies trying to get a variety of shows picked up. I have a marketing agency, Ash Agency, that has been doing well. It’s been beautiful to watch it thrive because it was something I started just to help my fellow pornstar sisters out and it just so happens to be doing really well. I am so happy to see all the models I work with thriving. I have been so excited with what the past year has given me. I can't wait to see what will happen next year!
What has been your favorite thing about motherhood so far?
It may sound so cliché but I'm sure a lot of new moms can agree - it's just being able to be her mother. Being able to hold her and make her happy. She is my world, and I am hers. My husband and I are very fortunate to work from home, so we are both stay-at-home parents. She is the happiest, most social baby you've ever met. She's confident and independent. Just being able to see her develop has been the most amazing thing to watch. They really do grow up so fast! She's already 11 months old, it's crazy.
Have you learnt anything new about yourself since becoming a mother?
Oh yes! I have developed so much anxiety! I used to be a thrill seeker; I was the crazy girl who loved turbulence in the airplane. I took my daughter on a plane and OH MY GOSH it was the worst thing in my entire life. I was shaking, my heart was pounding like never before. I was squeezing my baby during that flight just thinking, "Who the fuck is flying this plane? What did he do last night? Did he get a good night's rest? Are we safe?" I'm trying to deal with the anxiety of being an overprotective mother. It’s a learning curve that I am going through at the moment.
You’re very vocal about loving your industry job, being a wife and a mother. Any words of wisdom for those who might not have the same perspective as you?
Everyone is different, has different mindsets and experiences. I can only speak for myself. I have been blessed to be able to build a brand and a fan base around my adult career. They watched me grow into this person over the years. I wasn't trying to grow up online, it just kind of happened. I allowed the world to see me do porn for so long and realized I never allowed them to see me. I started doing podcasts and interviews because everyone already had some idea of me, so why not shape it into a better idea that is more fitting to who I actually am?
Porn has allowed me to open so many doors and it has always been a supportive place no matter what my choices were. I was able to lead at my own pace. I feel like porn teaches you work ethic. Any job has its ups and downs, but overall porn was always amazing to me, and the community was always supportive and accepting of me so why would I turn my back on them? I wouldn't be the woman I am today or have the views on life I have if it wasn't for all the thousands of people I fucked or met on a porn set!
What have been the biggest changes you’ve had to adapt to in your personal and/or work life now that you’re a new mother?
My work life is so different. I am a workaholic. Also, my work is not just porn. I run multiple businesses, so my work is Zoom meetings with my employees, lawyers, my partners and collaborators. I spend most of my work in front of a computer or in meetings brainstorming future endeavors. As I mentioned, my husband and I are stay-at-home parents, and I am very active in my daughter's life so balancing work life can be a challenge. Most of the time though I have my daughter in my office working with me. I'll be checking my emails and she will be playing with her "office" toys that I have for her. I try to keep her active in my workspace. It may not be super professional, but I want her to be around business. I want her to see how a leader leads; how to manage multiple businesses and have a functioning home life. I am a woman who loves to work, so figuring that out while being as present as possible is my greatest battle right now.
What’s next for Riley Reid? Can our fans expect new MILF content coming out in 2023?
I am at a point in my career where I have the luxury of shooting what I want, with who I want, when I want! And lucky for you all I still love shooting porn! So yes, I am still shooting, but only for my exclusive sites. I have my content on so many platforms and I recommend other content creators to do the same. I want to do lots of things. I want a female sex toy line, I want a podcast, I want to start writing a book, but right now my biggest goal is to create a cartoon, so that's what I hope you’ll hear about next!
