Daddy is a term often used in gay culture to describe a man who receives interest from younger men. Anyone can be a daddy, but to celebrate Father’s Day, we linked up with the one and only Seattle Dad! He tells us about filming content, prioritizing his scene partner's pleasure and how that creates better connections, how he got his stage name, and more.
You started off as a carpenter and then found your way into being a full-time content creator. Was this an intentional career change or do you just really love all types of wood?
It was a completely organic and unplanned transition. I had been building furniture for 20 years and filming my exploits at my woodshop for fun. When the fan sites came around, I thought I would give them a try, but I was not expecting it to take off like it did. I love showing off all the wood I work on daily!
We are so glad you followed the organic transition! When you discovered you were gay, were there any role models for men like you? Do you consider yourself a role model to younger gay men now?
I did not really have any gay role models in the mid 80s. We were robbed of a generation of elders, so I try to be that for the younger guys I meet and work with. It is very fulfilling to get a call or a text asking for advice on how to navigate becoming a gay man in this confusing world. I became Seattle Dad because so many young men were already calling me that already.
That is really noble of you to be there for them. What do you think about bear (large, hairy men) representation in the adult industry? Has the gay community welcomed more diverse appearances from the smooth, muscled men of the past?
I think bear representation has grown over the last decade. I started making my own porn because I couldn’t find it with people that looked like me and my friends. I love how Twitter and the fan sites have put power into people’s hands to choose what they want to see. My experience has been overwhelmingly positive and the success I have achieved seems to signify that people have started embracing a more realistic standard of body types for porn.
We agree. Diversity is important, not everyone has the same tastes. Let's talk about your content. You create it with a variety of people, many of whom are regular guys you meet in Seattle. How do you approach the topic of filming content and getting consent to upload it with someone who is not already in the adult industry?
That has changed so much. Fortunately, I have a lot of friends who have been interested in being filmed. I try not to film with anyone who does not already have an adult presence online. I do not care about their follower count, but I do not want to be the first person to put them on the internet naked. It is always best to put your intentions out there if you want to film so you are not blindsiding anyone that is not ready for it.
That is an honorable approach. And being honest and upfront is important. Speaking of filming, a lot of your content focuses on your scene partner’s pleasure over yours. Tell us how this leads to better chemistry with the people you film with.
I have always been obsessed with making my partner feel good. It is very important to me that they have fun and when you are being that attentive it automatically makes the connection better. I also only film with guys that I am really attracted to, so the chemistry comes naturally.
What contributes the most to your popularity? Between social media, Pornhub, and paysites, how do you leverage each to help new fans discover your content?
That is a good question! I think it boils down to consistency across all platforms. I post at least once a day on social media to keep engaged with the algorithms and I post trailers and sometimes full videos on Pornhub, where they get tens of thousands of views and lots of love. On the pay sites I post at least 4 times a week, every week for the last six years. It is a lot of work, but I think it has been a huge part of my success.
Consistently uploading is super important! It helps the algorithms and helps keep your fans engaged. Speaking of your fans, last year you won Top Daddy Performer at the 5th Annual Pornhub Awards! How was attending this year’s Awards Party and seeing fellow performer, Will Tantra, win it this year?
Winning last year was such a good feeling. Being at the award show and seeing my friend Will win was just as good. I love seeing older guys celebrated and it could not have gone to a nicer more caring man.
What advice would you give to other older men who are looking to explore their freedom of sexual expression and get started in the industry?
I would say, there is never a better time than now. Start working on your social media accounts and building up followers. Do not worry about self-doubt and whether you think you measure up to some arbitrary standard. The people who find you sexy will be there for you.
I love being an older guy and am happy to show the world that your gay life is not over at 40 or 50. Just do what turns you on and like-minded people will find you and join you on your journey.
That is great advice! How do you unwind after a long day? Any hobbies, passions, or causes you want to tell us about?
I now use woodworking as a hobby to unwind. Having this career on the fan sites has made it easier for me to slow down and enjoy the process of building. I also love to relax on cold and rainy Seattle nights playing video or board games. When it is warm, I try to get out and camp and hike as much as I can.
We are glad to hear you are still woodworking and enjoying it. One final question for you. What goals do you hope to achieve in the next 1-3 years?
I definitely want to keep making videos and improving the quality of what I put out. I would also like to transition into directing and filming others and being more behind the scenes. I sometimes think I want to start my own studio. I have a lot of ideas for the future, and I cannot wait to see how it all unfolds.
