Happy International Women’s Day to all the badass babes who make up our wondaful community! Join us in celebrating women's achievements with this year's theme #BreakTheBias. This year, we asked some of the amazing women in our Model Program what breaking the bias means to them.
Luna Okko is loved by all genders for her genre-redefining videos that mix influencer-esque travel vlogs with sex scenes as aesthetically pleasing as they are steamy. Her female-centric, sex positive attitude and dedication to creating a safe space for women to talk about their sexuality and bodies honestly is why she’s one badass woman #BreakingTheBias.
What misconceptions do people still have about female adult performers? How do you personally challenge that?
The most common one is people assuming every female adult performer is a porn actress. Many people are unaware of the diversity in the porn industry and don’t know about amateur creators. I tried to create a format which mixed porn with normal and basic life. That’s why I started to add vlog content to my videos to help people picture the day-to-day life of the people behind porn.
This year’s theme is #BreakTheBias – how do you feel you contribute to Breaking the Biases people have about women and the industry?
I hope my humble contribution to this industry helps to show porn isn’t always male gaze oriented, produced and/or directed by men. I created my own videos with complete freedom creativity over the past few years and I’ve never felt more empowered!
You use your social media to discuss women’s issues likes body hair and contraception; tell us more about why you feel these topics are important?
I’m not really a social media girl, but I read as many messages as possible. My audience is made up of a lot of women and I received those questions frequently. I have no problem talking about my own experience with contraception and body hair, and I’m happy to share if it could help! I was really surprised by the number of girls who told me they never had a chance to discuss it with their mothers or sisters or were ashamed to ask professionals about it. I believe that my contribution to porn kind of created a safe space to discuss these intimate topics.
What gave you the idea do an R-rated travel series?
I love to share everything about my adventures with my community from travel, food recommendations, exploring and sex. From my point of view, it wouldn’t feel right to share only half of it. I love to bring people into my discovery of the world!
Which episode was your favorite to film and why?
I love all my episodes, it’s hard to pick one! But I would say Episode 8 - that’s the first episode where I included a longer vlogging part of the video. I was afraid people wouldn’t like it but instead it became the most viewed video on my channel. I feel like this specific video gave me the confidence to post what I want!
What’s next for Luna Okko?
I’m terrible at scheduling so my next big goal is to find balance with my content production to ease my mind and facilitate a more regular posting schedule. For 2022 I want to challenge myself to post a video once month!
What have you discovered about yourself while traveling and shooting?
Doing porn and creating my own content boosted my self-confidence so much. I’m a completely different person since I started. I want to improve on caring less about what others think about me and learn to enjoy life to its full potential.
