May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Just like physical health, mental health is important to personal, community, and social development.
In recognition of this month, we want to highlight some counselling and therapy resources available to our community with the help of our partners, The Cupcake Girls and Pineapple Support.
The Cupcake Girls provide confidential support to those involved in the sex industry, as well as trauma-informed outreach, advocacy, holistic resources, and referral services to provide prevention and aftercare to those affected by sex trafficking.
Some services The Cupcake Girls offer include direct care programs in addition to community resources. Direct care programs include the resource referral program, advocacy program, the mentorship program, and support groups. Depending on your requirements, these programs can help provide a peer support system, put you in touch with trusted community organizations, or connect you directly with an assigned Cupcake Girls advocate who can offer direct, one-on-one assistance.
The Cupcake Girls will also be hosting free virtual support groups from 6 to 7:30 p.m. every Monday night in May, starting on Monday, May 6. If you are in Portland, Oregon, or Las Vegas, Nevada, The Cupcake Girls will also be opening their Free Store from 2 till 4 p.m. the first Friday of every month. The Cupcake Girls Free Store is open to past or present sex workers and sex trafficking survivors. Items available at each monthly Free Store include Narcan, fentanyl test strips, Plan B, hygiene products, menstrual products, and more. Click here to RSVP.
We also work closely with Pineapple Support. The Pineapple Support Society is a groundbreaking mental health non-profit tailored to the online adult industry. With a mission to offer free emotional support and therapy services, Pineapple Support boasts a diverse team of over 450 sex-worker friendly, kink-aware therapists who provide both face-to-face and virtual therapy sessions. Operating globally and around the clock, Pineapple Support is dedicated to serving the adult community with unwavering support.
All Pineapple Support resources are available either free of charge or on a pay-what-you-can basis. Their mental health professionals are licensed, trained, experienced and accredited psychologists, therapists, coaches, clinical social workers or professional counsellors. They offer a wide range of services from support therapy and support groups to webinars, workshops and more.
Pineapple Support drop-in support groups offer a welcoming environment that is free to join and requires no long-term commitment. These groups run weekly and monthly, providing safe, inclusive spaces for various communities, including those focusing on motivation, trauma, BIPOC individuals, male content creators, and Spanish-speaking content creators. New groups are continually being added to cater to evolving needs and interests. Find out more. We encourage all members of our community who need therapy or counselling services to reach out to The Cupcake Girls or Pineapple Support for help. Both organizations will be at XBIZ Miami on May 14 and 15. They would love to connect in-person with members of our community.
