In case you’re unfamiliar with the fully-dressed man behind the wholesome Pornhub videos, we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Creamer (believe it or not, that’s his real name). The CollegeHumor writer took to Pornhub about a year ago and has made quite an impression with his delightful PG clips. He's even managed to impress and convince some of our top Models like Mia Malkova, NoFaceGirl, and Ginger Banks to film with him.

Let’s go back a little bit, to before you started on Pornhub, what drew you to comedy?
It was just something I was drawn to growing up. My siblings and I would grab a camcorder and shoot videos in the house. I then went to college knowing that I wanted to pursue comedy seriously but I just didn’t know how to go about it. I went to Florida and started doing improv, skits, and standup in clubs and at school. Then I met some people at UCB Theatre in New York and got involved there and hung out with some funny people through association. I also interned at CollegeHumor during college and wrote articles for them. So it was kind of like a shotgun spray of trying to pursue comedy in every way that I could.

So your first video on Pornhub was “I tuck you in after you have cum.” What gave you the idea to join the site and upload these kinds of videos?
I didn’t really know I was going to end up doing a bunch of videos. I thought it was going to be this one-time thing. I think it was the verification feature on Pornhub that drew me in. This idea that I could get verified in 48 hours by taking a picture with my name was funny enough for me. I didn’t have any intention of creating adult content. I started thinking about how the “verified” me could be funny and that gave me the idea of being fully clothed with a shirt and tie. Also, if my parents found out, I wanted it to be the softest blow for them as possible. So I did two and thought that was it, but it got some traction, so I started making a video once a week.
My goal right now is to try and find niche avenues in porn to riff on in a wholesome and fun way. If it starts to get stale, I don’t want to create these videos just for the sake of it, but until that point, I’m going to keep doing it. I’m also looking into merchandise.
Did your parents end up finding out?
They did. I was raised in a very religious household, so I was trying to keep it from them for as long as I could, but it eventually got to a point where it was hard to hide. A friend of mine posted a link on my Facebook and since my mom is Facebook friends with me, she saw it. She called and was obviously not thrilled about it at first. Since then, though, it’s blown over and they’re very supportive.
Well with comedy in general, you’re bound to touch upon topics people are uncomfortable with.
Of course, and it’s been an ongoing conversation with my parents. They point to certain comedians and say, “This person doesn’t need to say these things and they’re still funny.” They want more squeaky-clean humor.
Would you say your upbringing influence your interest in comedy and sense of humor?
I think so. When I look back at this Pornhub character I created, it’s very much a blend of my mom who is the nicest person on the planet and my dad who is the one of the funniest people on the planet. I think that is my ideal cocktail of what I find funny. It’s a combination of very sweet and very funny, so I like to think it’s a mix between the two. I’m sure if I told them, though, they wouldn’t find it flattering.
You’ve been described as the Mr. Rogers of Pornhub. Is that who you had in mind when you put together this sweater-vest character?
I asked myself, “What does a nice wholesome person look like?” It’s basically Mr. Rogers. It’s funny because now, I’m at that point where I’m trying to shop around this idea, this Mr. Rogers vibe, for future plans. I don’t know if it was a conscious decision at first, but I’ve leaned into it and I think it’s great because Mr. Rogers is just the best.

How do you come up with your video ideas and titles?
I try to come up with an idea a week, which is just enough pressure I need to put out a video every Monday. It gives me the push to keep thinking up ideas rather than creating a list and crossing them off. I like the idea of having just one week to think of just one idea and knowing that I have to do it.
In terms of the thought process, I guess it’s a little bit of trying to understand the tropes and what’s popular enough on Pornhub so that when people see it, they’ll recognize it and know what you’re making fun of. So it does involve a bit of scrolling through Pornhub and seeing what can be satirized.
Have you gotten any negative feedback from anyone in the industry?
I feel like it’s been overwhelmingly positive, but I’m sure that demographic exists. There was an article written on how I was elbowing people in the industry out of work by doing what I was doing. I’ve certainly never set out to do that, but I can’t change anyone’s mind if they feel that way.
Some have suggested that you’re making a statement against the adult industry. What are your thoughts on that?
I do understand why some people look at it that way, but I certainly never sought out to do that. I have nothing against the adult industry, and I’ve watched pornography for a good chunk of my life. I genuinely just started making these videos because I thought they were funny. It’s hard when you make this kind of impulsive decision and only realize later consequences later because of how people respond to it. This community has been so welcoming and nice since the beginning. I just started it all thinking this was going to be just another comedic thing; I didn’t foresee it being this successful.
Why did you decide to keep your real name for your account?
Not to sound cocky, but I figured if this is going to get traction, for better or worse, I’d like to have my name attached to it. Now I realize that using your real name means people know who you are and this is how everyone will know you.
Would you say the real-life Ryan Creamer is similar or different to the Pornhub Ryan Creamer?
I think Pornhub Ryan Cream is an exaggeration to the real one. I do like to think there is a sliver of me in there, but it’s such a caricature that I think you’d be hard-pressed to find anyone like this person. What’s been nice is my friends who I’ve known since before all this have complimented the fact that this character reflects my sense of humor and it’s not so much of stretch. So that’s been nice to hear.

How have you been dealing with the overnight fame?
Having pursued comedy for a while, this is the place where I want to be — doing something that I think is funny and being appreciated by so many people. There is an adjustment period of trying to stay grounded and interacting with people who matter most to me and don’t inflate my ego to a dangerous level.
Considering you use your real name, what kind of impact has it had on your privacy?
I felt it most on social media. It’s more of an obligation now to interact with people I’ve never met. I was recognized when I went to see Tenacious D and when I go to UCB, but no one really recognizes me here in LA. So that’s been a humbling experience.
It’s going to be a year in October since you started this. Do you have any big projects coming up or something we could look forward to?
I’m going to continue doing videos once a week, adding in some merchandise, and I’ve been thinking about doing TV-length videos with this character. However I don’t have a set timeline for it all. It’s funny to go from having no plan and no idea to trying to construct one. I am at a point where I feel like I’m building a plane while it’s flying.
