The safety of our community is at the forefront of our mission, and we maintain these standards through one of our core values – consent. While you were always required to obtain and maintain evidence of your Co-Performer's ID and consent, we recently updated the way we validate consent when working with additional performers.
Since January, when you add a new Co-Performer to your account, you must also include a signed Release Form to confirm that each party consented to the recording of the material and to its distribution. This is required before any content featuring these new Co-Performers can get approved on Pornhub.
We have received some helpful feedback about the technical process, so we created this guide to help make uploading easier.
First things first
A Release Form is a legal document that is used in photography and video production. In this context, Models, actors, and other performers provide a Release Form to confirm their consent to appear in the recording and the distribution of the materials. This effectively protects the rights of all individuals appearing in the content and ensures informed consent has been granted.
Unlike 2257 requirements, which require producers of content to maintain records that verify all Performers are of legal age to produce content, a Release Form is how we validate proof of consent. Models must submit a Release Form for every new Co-Performer they add to their account and must keep the documents on hand for every video. We may, and do, periodically, request that you provide us with that information.
Your Co-Performer's consent (signed Release Form) should be uploaded and approved before you upload a new video they appear in. We recommend you obtain copies of their ID and a signed Release Form on the same day prior to shooting content together. Click here to download a template of our Release Form.
You can upload IDs and a signed Release Form to Pornhub while the content is in post-production. If there are issues with the Release Form submission, you will have time to fix and re-submit the document so that the paperwork is all in order before the video gets uploaded. This will allow for a smoother video approval experience.
If you are creating group content with multiple Co-Performers, a separate signed Release Form is required for everyone.
A Release Form only needs to be submitted once for each new Co-Performer; however, it is important to complete and maintain them for your records every time you film a new scene together.
Filling in personal information
When filling in personal information on the Release Form for you and your Co-Performer, double check that the names and dates of birth match how they appear on the corresponding supported identification documents (IDs). If there are any discrepancies between the two, your Release Form may not be approved.
Pornhub mentions
Your Release Form may state that the uploader can post to any site they choose, but if it includes a list of accepted sites, Pornhub must be present on that list. Alternatively, if the form contains a list of prohibited sites and Pornhub is listed amongst them, we cannot accept it.
Content restrictions
If the Release Form contains a clause that states the content can only be uploaded as Paid Content or Free Content, it will limit the type of videos that can get approved for upload to Pornhub. Paid content includes subscription sites where content is sold or viewed by a monthly subscription.
Release Forms that specify a type of content or have restrictions on how it can be uploaded, such as non-pornographic, teasers, photos, or video duration maximum, may not be accepted.
Proper quality images
Image quality is important. If our moderators cannot read the information on your Release Forms, they will be unable to validate them. Before submitting, open the file on your computer and make sure everything is legible.
Sign, sign, sign!
Hand-written signatures tell us you and your Co-Performer have read and agreed to the information in the Release Form. If you submit a Release Form without a signature, from either your Co-Performer or yourself, it will be rejected.
Signatures on your Release Form must match the signature on you and your Co-Performer's ID.
You cannot have multiple Co-Performers sign one Release Form.
Completing all fields on the form
All fields must be filled out to get approved. Before you submit the Release Form, please double check that no fields are left blank.
eSignature option
As an additional and completely digital Co-Performer verification option, consider using eSignature. With eSignature, you can generate a secure link to send to your Co-Performer by email or other direct message. From there, they can verify their ID and sign a Release Form digitally.
To summarize
Here is a recap of Release Form requirements:
- Document fields must be legible and properly filled out.
- Document pages are complete, and none are missing.
- The Release Form is dated and signed by both parties; the Model (verified uploader) and the Co-Performer.
- The Release Form does not make the content ineligible for distribution on Pornhub. Examples that may disqualify content include:
- How the content can be distributed and monetized (i.e. For Sale Only or Free Content only)
- A list of adult sites that excludes Pornhub
- A clause that prohibits the content from being uploaded to Pornhub
- A clause that prohibits distribution of pornographic or otherwise sexually explicit content
If there are attempts to falsify the information on these documents, the Release Form will not be approved and depending on the case or violation, your account may be suspended, audited, or banned.
We recognize that all Models will need to spend a little extra time and effort when adding and identifying new Co-Performers, but it is our goal to make this process as easy and secure as possible. Our Model support team is available 7 days a week if you need assistance. You can learn more at our Help Center or reach out to us through our Contact Form.
