Working with your spouse in any line of business can prove challenging, but the adult industry is unlike most businesses. We wanted to know more about the long-term couples who are not only life partners, but business partners in the wild world of porn. We spoke with amateur content creator couple Sex With Milf Stella, and professional studio performer/producers Lady Fyre and Laz Fyre of House of Fyre, for their perspectives on mixing work and pleasure, literally.
Sex with Milf Stella
Tell us about yourselves! How did you get your start in the industry?
Stefano and I (Stella) have been together for over 20 years and one day I came up with the idea of us making porn and, no surprise here, Stefano loved it. That was in early 2019 and we’ve been making porn ever since.
What made you decide to start creating and posting your own adult content?
We had actually recently sold a business, retired, and followed our dream of moving to a tropical island paradise. It was great but after a while we wanted an exciting new challenge. I came up with porn and we jumped right in.
What did you find difficult in the beginning? Was there anything surprisingly easy?
The most difficult thing is building a following. Social media is the absolute worst invention ever, yet you really have to use it for marketing. We’re rule followers so we would read terms on every site, make notes, and follow the rules and still find ourselves being kicked off or banned without explanation while far more popular people with huge followings are untouchable. That double standard is hugely frustrating. There is also a lot of legal stuff to deal with in porn so learning about that, keeping records, and all of the other stuff that comes with running a business is not for everyone. If you build it, they may CUM but they will not necessarily COME. Unless you hit the viral jackpot early on you can expect a long road ahead and that is why so many people who get into porn are out of it months later.
What did you do before becoming full-time content creators?
We actually created a business in the tech industry which did really well and allowed us to sell it to a Fortune 500 company. We were then fortune enough to retire at a really early age but we missed the challenge, creativity, and general fun of building a business so we got into the porn biz.
How has joining the industry as a couple affected the dynamic of your relationship?
The best thing about joining the industry is how it brought us closer together and this is the closest we’ve ever been in our 20+ years together, and that closeness grows daily. Our sexual desires and pleasure have shot through the roof over the last few years. We learn so much about our bodies and sexual desires constantly now. That has been the best thing about this for us by far. Anal is just one good example. I tried anal sex several times before porn with some okay results but after having more regular anal sex because of porn I’ve come to love anal. There are countless things along those lines that happen all the time.
Pros and cons of working with your partner?
We sat here for a while on this one because we couldn’t think of a single con. We’re oddly compatible so that is actually the biggest pro for us, we just sort of know what the other is thinking, doing, planning, etc. We’ve also run a business together so a lot of the day to day stuff comes naturally to us and we each know what to do and how to do it without any drama. Best of all, we truly enjoy spending time together 24/7 and this allows us to do that.
What advice would you give a long-term couple looking to improve their love-life?
Communication. Communication. Communication. Sex. Sex. Sex. No judgment, ever. I cannot stress communication enough, without it you will certainly create some level of resentment and that will lead to all sorts of problems. Talk about everything, share everything, and hide nothing. Have frequent sex and make proper time for it so you can experience that closeness that we all crave with your partner, it’s like the fountain of youth for couples.
What has been your favorite part of collaborating as partners?
The creative process of coming up with new role play stories and film ideas is a lot of fun for us. Often one of us has a half-baked idea for a roleplay story that would probably work well, but then we’ll mention it to the other and talk it out and the end result will certainly be even better. That merging of ideas is where we have the most fun.
Do you still have a love-life off camera? How do you keep it “authentic”?
We have an amazing off camera love life, even better than it was before porn. Pick a night and make it your date night. Maybe go out for dinner or maybe just stay in for Netflix. Then make sure the sex is off camera. It’s something special to look forward to each week. We also sprinkle in random off camera sex as well so I sometimes surprise Stefano with morning sex for example. Even live streaming, which is on camera, has become almost a mini date night in a way for us. We chat with fans, many are regulars we’ve gotten to know, and that’s like a night out with friends. Sure, we’re sucking and fucking throughout the 1-2 hours and there may be thousands of people watching us but it’s like a hard-core Zoom call with friends and we get to make them happy in the process. Win, win!
How do you split up your responsibilities with content creation and other work duties?
A lot of what we do (story ideas, setting up for filming, etc.) is done together. But then we split some stuff up, for example I handle photo processing, photo uploading, social media posting, replying to fans, recording sales info, etc. He handles a lot of the video editing, video uploading, writing copy, and more of the tech and gear related stuff.
Are there any common misconceptions people have about working in the industry as a long-term couple?
No industry is filled with more misconceptions than porn! The most obvious being the idea that somehow making (or watching) porn is bad (thanks religion!). The idea that sex is bad or taboo or whatever is insane to me. Sex can’t be bad, none of us would exists without it. So if we have sex and record it then it becomes porn and somehow now it’s bad? Why? Because religion says so? The truth is the exact opposite and a really great sex life (on or off camera) is the healthiest thing you can do for a relationship. Another might be that the only way to make it big in the industry is to have sex with lots of partners. It’s so not true and we make a great living just having sex with each other. Of course, we are looking for some cute girls to film with as well but that’s a personal preference, not a requirement for success. We could fill dozens of blog posts on the misconceptions of this industry!
Do you have any long-term goals for your channel and adult career?
So many goals! We would like to bring in other girls to film with us. I need more boobies to play with! We had some lined up and then COVID hit and sort of paused things, then we moved, and now we’re starting to look for girls again. So if you’re female and want to work with us drop me a line! We would also like to build up a network of likeminded couples or even solo girls so that we can all help each other out, promote each other, and succeed together. We don’t do the whole cutthroat competition thing and would rather help others and give back instead.
Our next thing is a big renovation construction project that is taking forever. When finished it will be our mini porn studio with various sets for a bedroom, living room, office, bathroom, and on and on. We’ve designed a big new space so we can get even more creative with our porn scenarios.
To wrap things up, I just want to get a message out to any girls out there that might like to make content with us. Drop me a line at sexwithmilfstella@gmail.com (preferred) or on Twitter @SexMilfStella or any of my various links at MilfStella.com and let me know. We’d love to find some great long-term partners we can work and grow with.
House of Fyre
What are the origins of the Fyre family? Were you both working in the industry before meeting or was this a venture you started together?
Laz and I (Lady Fyre) met in 2001, but we didn’t start in the industry until 2010.
How has joining the industry as a couple affected the dynamic of your relationship?
Before, we did most things separately. We went to work and school, and we only saw each other on weekends. We weren’t functioning as a team in many ways. Now we must work together harmoniously as colleagues, business partners, and life partners to be successful in any of those areas. Together we’ve grown to become more empathetic and to have better communication skills.
What has been your favorite part of collaborating as partners?
It’s amazing to spend so much time together and to be our own bosses. We wake up each morning, drink our coffee, and discuss our goals for the day. We can take a morning walk, take a lunch break together, knock off early for dinner or a movie, or maybe work late to push through a project. We can stay inside and cuddle when it’s cold and rainy, grocery shop on a Thursday at 9am, financially help a family member in need. It’s the kind of freedom that many people only dream of, and while we’ve made many sacrifices to live this way, we’re grateful for this privileged life.
Pros and cons of working with your partner?
There’s some overlap between the two. For example, for the past 12 years, we’ve spent very few days apart. This is absolutely a blessing, but it can also be a challenge. There is no “clocking out” when you’re your own boss. At times it can be difficult to find a work-life balance, especially when your life partner is your business partner, and when your home is your workplace. After the recent Covid lockdown, we know many non-industry folks can identify. We’re hard workers and can become very absorbed in completing tasks, sometimes neglecting hobbies or going weeks without a day off. Through the years we’ve found a better balance, but it’s been a journey. Hiring directors has certainly helped us take a step back and focus on the truly important things. We’re so grateful to be at a point in our careers where we can focus more on living life in the most fulfilling way possible, and right now for me that means spending less time with my mind in the gutter and more time with my hands in the dirt… of my garden ;)
Are there any common misconceptions people have about working in the industry as a couple?
Often, people assume that because we have had sex with other people on camera, we are swingers or polyamorous. While ethical non-monogamy is very common amongst people in the industry, off camera we are monogamous, and we know plenty of other couples who are as well.
